Exclusive Interview with the creator of Space Station!!

Space Station Myspace AdderBotReviewer: When/how did you start Space Station?

Space Station: Some buddies and I purchased and used some of the other bots available on the market for a few months. They were all excellent programs in their own right, but we found that each one had one or two crucial features missing, that you actually had to go and buy another program for just to get that functionality! So we thought it would be a great idea to create a MySpace bot that merges all the major features of some of the premiere bots out there into one multi-purpose program. Call it a Super-Bot! Our first sale was on the 10th of August, so we’re still relatively young in the bot industry. Growing up fast though!

BR: Do you have a team of people that work on Space Station, or is it just you that deserves the credit?

SS: We are 3 guys, myself, Will and Johann… I do almost all the work though, lol!

BR: Any future development for other social networks like bebo or youtube?

SS: Absolutely! We don’t call ourselves Bot Tower for nothing!

At the moment we are working an another MySpace project that we are VERY excited about (I’d rather not elaborate too much at this stage), and as soon as that’s finished a YouTube bot will probably be next in line. There are so many options (Friendster, TagWorld, Bebo, etc.), but in future we hope to have a bot for most major social networking sites on the web.

BR: Lots of people would like to know how myspace blocks accounts…any clues or insight that you have onto how accounts get blocked? (By blocked i’m referring to the inability to send mail)

SS: We have some theories… back when we used those other bots, and while testing Space Station, we sent messages like crazy. 400 every day for about a month. One day we just realized that nothing at all is getting through and after reading the MySpace forums found that literally thousands of people are having the same problem. I promise you, if you go check out the MySpace forums you’ll find at least two or three new threads started about that topic every day!

Now I really doubt if those thousands of people are all using bots, many of them explicitly say so… other swear they aren’t sending more than 30 messages a day. That tells me that it MUST be a deeper issue on MySpace’s end. Maybe it’s a bug, maybe somebody is hacking MySpace accounts, maybe MySpace has some filter “triggers” that are going off prematurely, hey maybe some accounts are just plain unlucky. Whatever the case, NONE of our test accounts are showing that behaviour at the moment, so it certainly isn’t something that is specifically triggered by using a bot.

What really eats me though is that those reports have been coming in for months, and Myspace has done absolutely squat. Not even a little Tom-Box message saying they’re aware of the problem. Pfffft.

BR: What are some milestones Space Station has reached or fought through?

SS: Well, being rated #1 on BotReviewer is a major milestone, for sure. Just being listed in the top 5 was our mission in life since we started working on the software. During those months of development, we literally woked 12+ hours a day so that we could be SURE of cracking a spot on the list, and when we hit #1 immediately that was an absolute highlight, especially looking at the quality of our competitors’ products.

As you can see on our website, we have won many “5-star” and “Editor’s Choice” awards on some of the top Shareware sites on the web. That list just keeps growing, and it’s especially pleasing because sites like those focus more on the general quality of the product than any specific features.

BR: Lots of people have inquired as to a mac version of Space Station, any plans? puhleeeezzz. ;)

SS: We do get enquiries about that from time to time, but unfortunately there are no plans for a Mac-compatible version in the near future, no. We think it would be a better business decision to start developing a new product that most people can use, then spend the time and effort creating and maintaining a software that only a minority will buy.

The major thing really is maintaining the product. We make small tweaks, upgrades and fixes due to MySpace changes on a daily basis, so doubling the work would not be worthwile.

BR: What future goals do you have for Space Station?

SS: Just to keep it at #1 and make sure it doesn’t slide! There are some amazing MySpace bots out there, and to keep ahead of them will not be easy. I’m looking at a very long list of requested features on my desk that will be implemented in time, so don’t worry, we won’t just lie down now that we’ve reached the top!

As I said earlier, there is another software product in the works that will increase the usefulness of Space Station tenfold for bands, promoters, etc… so that’s a priority at the moment!
